Building Community Highlights from Northwood Church.

This is the website for Northwood Church’s 2011 Building Community. These pages contain information on volunteer sign-up, donations, corporate sponsorships, past makeovers and this year’s event, which will take place on October 7-8, 2011.

Our Mission

Northwood Church’s mission is to see our world transformed by engaging God interactively, other Christians transparently and demonstrating God’s love to our world both locally and globally. In North Texas, we focus on the city of Haltom City where we work in the community through feeding programs, ESL, tutoring and much more. Since 2007, we have provided home makeovers for 16 families in Haltom City. In the past three years, we broadened the scope of our weekend’s work to include the entire neighborhood of the families we adopt.

But this year, we have a new plan to flatten the work so more “lay” builders can participate. Instead of focusing on four houses, we are instead focused on neighborhoods and community gathering places, like the Haltom Senior Center. Plus we’ve added the Parkview Elementary area in KISD, north of Haltom City. Look at the Building Community Presentation Matt Robertson presented in May on this year’s event.
